ʻŌlelo is Hawaiian for language, nu is a stylised spelling of "new". nuolelo stands for a new language – and that is exactly what we are here for: to help children discover one.
Children learn best when they play. In a colourful world they discover new words without it feeling like learning. Along the way they naturally develop curiosity and a love for language.
Language researchers agree: at the beginning, vocabulary is what counts, not grammar. Anyone who knows enough words will find grammar much easier later on. nuolelo starts right there.
nuolelo is aimed at children of kindergarten and primary school age. Whether as a playful early education for younger children discovering their first words in a foreign language, or as support for learning English, French or Spanish at school.
nuolelo takes children into a small, lovingly designed world. It is built like what children already know: a home with kitchen, living room and bathroom. Next to it a playground. And they find their favourite animals at the zoo or on the farm.
The controls are so intuitive that anyone can use them right away. The word for each picture can simply be heard in the foreign language.
Two games turn learning into an experience. In the Quiz, a word is spoken and the matching picture must be found. In Memory, the goal is to find word and picture as a pair. This way children can learn vocabulary without losing the fun.
For every game completed with 5 stars, a badge is awarded. Collecting them all unlocks Pro Mode.
